The Petoskey Stone is unique to northern Michigan where it is found along the shores of Lake Michigan.  It is fossilized pre-historic coral that's distinguishable by its unique pattern of tightly packed, six-sided corallites, which are the skeletons of the once-living coral polyps.  The artist believes this stone helps create self awareness of your emotions, bringing peace, harmony and integrity and dignity into your life.

About the artist:

Elements of nature are the inspiration for Janice's art.  The Michigan artist studied in England and is known for her unique mixed media artwork and jewelry.  She enjoys collecting stones, shells and beach glass along the shore of the Great Lakes and Gulf Coast of Florida where she lived for several years.
